Fees & Insurance

Fees

The Art of Friendship program offers both social skill groups AND individual therapy. Cost varies based on location, service type, and by therapist, and will be discussed with you in your initial phone consultation. We typically charge $90 for group therapy sessions. Assessment, individual therapy, and parent/family meetings cost $190. Meetings are all 50-60 minutes long. Each therapist offers a limited number of sliding fee slots for families for qualifying families. Feel free to ask your therapist about this option.

As a division of the Child and Family Art Therapy Center, we are a private pay program. We accept credit and debit cards though a secure online billing system.

Insurance

We are out of network (OON) for all insurance companies. However, that doesn’t mean working with an OON provider like CFATC has to break the bank.

Many health insurance plans include OON mental health benefits, which is when your insurance helps to cover the cost of therapy.

Depending on your specific plan, your insurance carrier may reimburse you anywhere from 50-90%! That means that the out-of-pocket cost of a $90 social skills group therapy session after reimbursement could be anywhere from $9 - $45 per session. You can get an estimate of your potential group therapy and individual therapy reimbursement using the Nirvana Reimbursement Calculator on this page.

The Art of Friendship therapists are not Medical Assistance (MA) providers.

HOW IT WORKS

01

Meet with your therapist.
You will pay the full fee at the time of your session.

02

Submit a Superbill
We provide you with a monthly superbill (a receipt of the therapy services you have already paid for) with all of the necessary information for you to submit the claim to your insurance.

03

Get reimbursed
Upon processing the claim, your insurance will reimburse you for a portion of your therapy session (dependent on your plan), typically in the form of a check or direct deposit.

Get an estimate of your insurance reimbursement for therapy.

Use the convenient, secure Nirvana Reimbursement Calculator on this page to find out how much you may be reimbursed for your therapy sessions depending on your health insurance plan. You don’t need to know the name of the therapist who runs the social skills group. In the calculator, simply select the name of any therapist from our practice to learn your potential reimbursement. Please note that this is an estimate, and you should always contact your insurance provider directly to confirm your coverage.

Right to a Good Faith Estimate

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost.

Under the law, health care providers need to give clients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

• You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.

• Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.

• If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.

• Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 1-800-985-3059.
